My Favorite Pools in Scottsdale

One of my favorite things in life is exploring. In Scottsdale, hospitality and tourism is the biggest industry which means lots of amazing resorts. I talk this place up to anybody who cares enough to ask me so warning you now, if you bring it up to me I'll get overly excited and go on for a while. If you're looking to avoid that here's a recap of a few of my favorites that I've been to so far:

1. Mountain Shadows
This mid-century resort has amazing views and an even better pool. They sell day passes in the lobby gift shop to hangout around the pool, which has great service. Also highly recommend the Prickly Pear Spritzer.

2. The Scott Resort & Spa
The photos above are from this resort. It has the cutest decor in the lobby, while the pool has a walk in beach area. It's a cute idea to bring to the desert.

3. Hotel Adeline
I always recommend this hotel when people ask me for a resort near Old Town Scottsdale that doesn't charge to use it. Not only that, but its still pretty new and has cute decor as well.

4. The Saguaro Scottsdale
If you know me, you know I'll always love this place and why. ;)
They don't allow non-guests in the pool on regular days but check out their pool parties during the summer. Tickets are $20 and include a drink!

Taking Responsibility

This month I'm focusing on my own emotional reactivity and how to control it. We're all responsible for our emotions and taking care of ourselves before expecting others to. By taking responsibility, we have the ability to be the best version of ourselves and make a difference wherever we are. Here are four tips I learned from an author Kyle D. Jones through his Instagram account:

Acknowledge your Feelings
A natural part of being human means we will experience feelings. We should think of this capability as a privilege and appreciate them since it's a miracle were even here to feel them. If we can recognize the worth of being able to experience sadness, there is the opportunity to find happiness in that itself. Sometimes when I'm down I'll listen to some great, powerful music to really just feel the shit out of that feeling to change my perception of it.

Develop Self Awareness
By becoming conscious of our power to be aware of our own selves, we gain power. We have the ability to study the way we react to situations and change any behaviors that don't match who we really want to be. This results in living fully and avoiding just coasting through life day by day. When I look back and wonder where time has gone, it's usually because I was just reacting to my circumstances.

Commit to Learning about Yourself
I'm still amazed by the fact that human beings are the only species with the intelligence to think about our own thoughts. Therefore, we can transform our minds and lifestyles so we should all take advantage of that while we can! Learning about yourself prevents ever feeling powerless again. Knowing I don't have to react to everything that happens to me brings so much peace of mind.

Surround yourself with People you can Trust
"Emotional reactivity is a natural result of survival instinct attempting to protect you in a perceived dangerous situation." -Kyle D. Jones. Allow yourself to receive the gift of only keeping relationships that have honest communication, healthy boundaries, and loyalty. Safety and security in every relationship you maintain is crucial to peace of mind.

I've felt so empowered by my own thoughts and discoveries about myself lately, I hope this inspires at least one other person to make any needed changes to feel the same. Thanks for reading!

The Only Jumpsuit

If you didn't know I'm 5'2", now you know. Being short is amazing and all, but finding cute trendy pants or jumpsuits that actually fit me is such a bitch! Usually pants have a good couple inches that drag on the ground or scrunch up at my ankles (lol). So when I finally found this jumpsuit that fit me straight off the rack without any altering needed I fell in love.

I also hadn't shopped at Tilly's in so many years! They have really cute summer fits right now, I highly recommend checking it out. Another perk is that bikinis are buy one get one 50% or free.

Polka Dots

Downtown Phoenix has been my go to spot lately to feel those big city vibes here in Arizona. I also fell in love with this set from a trendy little store in Chandler called T. Madison. So wearing it downtown made me feel put together. If you haven't heard of this clothing shop, check out they're Instagram or stop by if you're local. It's in a family owned furniture store that is so trendy, I could've filled my dream house.
