Betsey at the Beach

Lately I've been trying to relax my mind during the busy semester I'm going through. Last time I came home to San Jose in September I found a book called "1001 Ways to Live in the Moment" by Barbara Ann Kipfer. Whenever I have time at night, I'll read a few pages to get tired. One of the ways it describes has helped me a lot in finding myself in the middle of a huge city while working and studying. Luckily, I live walking distance from the beach so I go there to settle down or work out for twenty minutes and reflect to myself.

I want to encourage others to do the same, when you're feeling like you need to reconnect with yourself go somewhere that makes you feel rich in meaning rather than money. You could go somewhere with nature, a historical building with religious meaning, or a view. Stay there for at least twenty minutes and just stay quiet. Take the time to listen to your thoughts and take energy from yourself and the place you're in. Living in LA can be so overwhelming but I've started learning that  the right amount of focus on my own well being makes me much more content with the life I'm living.
